    4.2 Softmod Guide
    19 Feb 2010 9:03 (Edited: 19 Feb 2010 9:03)

    DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK! IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE RISK THEN DO SOME RESEARCH AND GET INFORMED!

    THIS GUIDE WILL WORK ON ANY REGION/SERIAL SYSTEM WITH 4.2 - EXCEPT KOREAN!

    ================================================== ============

    THINGS YOU NEED:

    WII SYSTEM WITH 4.2 FIRMWARE: Update to 4.2 firmware if you are on 4.1 or below (including already softmodded systems).

    SD CARD: An EMPTY 1GB/2GB formated FAT32 SD Card (If you use a Micro-SD card with Adapter and get errors then use a SD card instead).

    WIFI: WiFi is REQUIRED for this guide!

    DISCONNECT (VERY IMPORTANT): any Game Cube controller, Game Cube Memory Card and USB Device from the Wii system.

    ================================================== ============

    FILES YOU NEED TO DOWNLOAD:

    Due to my softmod pack being reported and taken down on the host site, you will need to download the needed applications yourself. Some applications have links to them and some you will need to find yourself. If you do not know how to set up the applications for Homebrew Channel to launch then do a little research and learn how to.

    Format your SD Card to FAT32. Then at the root of the SD Card create a folder named apps and create a folder named wad (both at the ROOT of the SD card).

    BANNERBOMB: Download abd6a_v200.zip and extract it to your SD card.

    HACKMII INSTALLER: Download HackMii Installer v0.6 and extract it to your PC. Go to the hackmii_installer_v0.6 folder and drag the boot.elf file to your SD Card ROOT.

    TRUCHA BUG RESTORER v1.11: Download TBR1.11 and extract it to your PC. Now drag the TBR folder to the apps folder on your SD Card.

    ANYTITLEDELETER: Create a folder named AnyTitleDeleter in the apps folder on your SD Card. Download AnyTitleDeleter and extract it to the AnyTitleDeleter folder you just created on your SD Card.

    CIOS_REV14: Create a folder named cIOS38_rev14 in the apps folder on your SD Card. Download cIOS38_rev14-Installer.zip and extract it to the cIOS38_rev14 folder you just created on the SD card. Now go to apps/cIOS38_rev14 folder on your SD card and rename cIOS38_rev14-Installer.dol to boot.dol

    NEOGAMMA R7: Do a Google Search for NeoGamma R7 WAD to download it. Now drag the wad file to the wad folder on the SD card.

    DOP-IOS MOD: Download DOP-IOS MOD v11.5 and extract it to the apps folder on your SD card.

    WAD MANAGER 1.5: Create a folder named WAD Manager 1.5 in the apps folder on your SD Card. Download WAD Manager 1.5 and extract it to the WAD Manager 1.5 folder you just created on the SD card. Now go to apps/WAD Manager 1.5 folder on your SD card and rename WAD-Manager_v1.5.dol to boot.dol

    Put the SD Card in the Wii System at this time.

    You will get a message saying "Load Boot dol/elf?" Select YES.

    This will start the Hackmii installer.

    Press 1 to continue at the warning screen.

    Select Continue again at the page that shows what can and can not be installed.

    At the main menu go up to Install Homebrew Channel and Press A.

    Try to install Bootmii as Boot2 first. If it will not let you install it as Boot2 then install it as an IOS.

    Those that have an Upside down Homebrew Channel can uninstall the HBC then reinstall it.

    BACK UP NAND (BOOTMII):

    DO NOT FORGET TO DISSCONNECT THE GAME CUBE CONTROLER AFTER YOU BACKUP YOUR NAND!

    Bootmii as Boot2 will boot menu when Wii is turned on. Navigate using a Gamecube Controller or Power Reset.

    Bootmii as IOS will boot from Homebrew Channel Home button screen. Navigate using Game Cube Controller. If you do not have a Game Cube Controller then try using power/reset buttons to navigate the Bootmii menu. (if the power/reset button does not navigate the menu then you will need a Gamecube Controller).

    How to backup NAND:

    Select the icon with Gears to go to NAND settings.

    Select the icon with a chip with green arrow pointing to SD Card to backup NAND.
